Personality

Most often hear Nerine coming long before they see her. Possessing a smooth voice that carries, the Viera tends to sweep into a room like a hurricane and then depart soon after. Every new acquaintance is treated as a newfound friend and she could easily talk to a brick wall and remain entertained for hours on end. Yet, despite the overfamiliarity, it's quite common to feel as if Nerine is still keeping her distance...even if, physically, that's far from the case.Seemingly always amused, Nerine doesn't take anything personally, with even the most meanspirited of insults rolling off her back. While she sometimes comes off as dimwitted, she's much sharper and wiser than she lets on. Usually. She's been known to take a hit to her intelligence when a cute girl wanders within her line of sight.Perhaps her most eccentric trait is her draw to vigilantism. She feels compelled to help others, though would rather remain anonymous in her exploits. Due to this, she has adopted a questionable persona for such ventures. A really, really questionable persona. Whether that aid ends up harming more than it helps is another thing entirely. Those content to stay at this level of relationship with Nerine will find a fun individual who will either entertain them (or annoy them) to no end. Those that manage to dig deeper will find this merely another mask.

Possible Hooks

A Pretty Face

~ Is your character female? If so, congratulations, she automatically has Nerine's attention. The woman just can't help herself! Whether your character was intending on approaching her or not, they've just become the center of Nerine's world and affections...at least, until she decides otherwise.~

Recurring Extra

Nerine left her village (and then Ishgard) a long time ago. Since then, she's taken to traveling and has been spotted in varying locations over the last several decades. It's entirely possible your character has crossed paths with her before...or even several times!

The Not Hermit's Hovel

Similar to a certain infamous hovel existing in the wilds of Outer La Noscea there exists yet another cabin tucked away in the wilderness. Sometimes mistaken for the Hermit's Hovel, this humble abode belongs to Nerine...though she's hardly ever there. That doesn't mean no one is using it, however. More than one traveler has chanced across it. Has that traveler perhaps been your character? There are many paths for this particular hook to go down, especially if Nerine happens to be home.

The Masked Moogle

In your hour of need (or perhaps not) a hero appears to offer succor! Why anyone would accept the aid of an obvious lunatic is anyone's guess, though it's also possible this Masked weirdo isn't giving you much of a choice... It's also possible this strange individual has helped you before, or you merely caught a glimpse of them in passing, where they've haunted your nightmares ever since.

People of the Wood

Fellow Viera who have left their homeland will find a friend in Nerine. She's taken more than one newcomer under her wing to teach them how to thrive in the outside world with, uh, varying results and definitions of helpful. She finds being in the presence of other Viera a bit comforting...usually. With two notable exceptions:

Brothers and Sisters of the Iryut

Nerine can be a bit stand offish to those hailing from the same village as her--but that just makes for interesting interactions! (Be aware that we'll need a good bit of OOC communication to start off with.)

M e n

If your male Viera is sweet, docile, or just generally affable, Nerine will find them an absolute delight. Those with more boorish or entitled personalities will manage to draw out the worst of Nerine's teasing and a stubborn streak that will likely leave them constantly butting heads.

A Very Long Time Ago

There once was a Viera who lost half of her heart. Metaphorically speaking, of course, but Shura would argue it certainly felt that way. Day after day, the space remained hollow, threatening to fill with only resentment and bitterness. And so, Shura did something practically unheard of for a Viera in that time: she left for the outside world. Because surely anything must be better than living like this. The lands outside the Golmore Jungle apparently took that as a personal challenge. Young and ill-prepared for a world she knew so little of, Shura's wanderings were far from easy. It was nothing short of a wonder that she lasted for as long as she did and nothing short of a miracle that her travels eventually led her to Ishgard.

A Long Time Ago

It was in Ishgard where an elezen woman by the name of Heloise Rochelle offered Shura shelter one evening. Within Heloise, Shura found a home, an identity, and a soulmate all before a summer had passed. Soon taking the name 'Nerine' after Heloise's favorite flower, she would eventually take the woman's surname as well, and could frequently be overheard chatting brightly about her wife. They were happy for quite some number of years, but such happiness can only last for so long in the midst of war.Eventually Heloise, and that happiness, came to an end. Grief swallowed Nerine's heart whole. After her wife's death, she never was the same again. Life became little more than a hollow, meaningless husk to the Viera. Once more she fled the second home she'd ever known, disappearing without a trace.

Many Years Ago

Decades would pass with limited sightings of Nerine. Rest assured the woman was alive, grieving, and now searching for purpose in a meaningless existence. Her wanderings would take her all across Hydaelyn until at last she slowly began to piece herself back together. But those are stories for another time, should she feel inclined to share.

Present Day, Present Time

These days, Nerine has been spotted in a little bit of everywhere. She never stays anywhere for long, or sticks with any job longer than a few moons before heading off to her next destination. Weirdly, should anyone be paying enough attention, there always seems to be a strange individual present in these same locations at the same time she is...though they're never seen together.

The Masked Moogle

Race: Moogle(?)
Pronouns: She/her, they/them
Job: RDM Mascot

Sometimes grief gives birth to weird methods of coping, and there's none weirder than the birth of the great Masked Moogle. Donning a moogle mask to "hide her identity" the Masked Moogle frequently takes to the streets of various city-states in order to aid the people and assist those in need of a helping hand. What qualifies as help is questionable, though. The antics that the Masked Moogle gets up to are never ending and always eyebrow raising.Considering the Masked Moogle has existed for two decades now, tales of her appearances and deeds have traveled...well, not across all corners of the world, exactly, but she has turned into somewhat of a cryptid, in several circles.

Rumors

“Heard she’s got a second mask ‘neath the first one. And another one ‘neath that! Nothin’ but moogles all the way down. Do they ever end…?” - Perturbed Brass Blade

~ “Who? The aloof, wild vigilante whose presence I have been... 'blessed' with on at least a few occasions? She does a far better job at sweeping me off my feet than most, though more often in a literal sense.” - Regal Xaela~

"That weirdo? Comes in ever so often to pick up a bounty. Guess being a 'hero' doesn't pay the bills. Although, now that I think on it, she doesn't usually come back to collect either." - Guild Attendant

"They say if you chant 'Magnificent Masked Moogle' three times and then snap your fingers she'll appear behind you! ...What? No, I'm not checking!" - Quicksand Patron

"She's surprisingly deft with a claw hammer and decent enough with needle and thread. Strange as it was to see her in the Firmament, she pulled her weight." - Ishgardian Restoration Volunteer

"It was weird. I mean, not weird in the way things are normally weird, but also kind of weird in the way you'd expect to be weird. She said kupo a lot and she was pretty strong but really she didn't have to do that much to intimidate the two guys who were kind of chumps anyway and—" - Rambling Woman

“Why does everyone always ask about her?! She doesn’t even work here, just shows up and starts making up games and handing out prizes. I do that too! Yet no one ever asks about me!” - Skyrise Celebration employee, the Mighty Moogle

“Silly moogle!” - Idyllshire Orphan #5

“Damned near killed me the other day! Dropped right out of the sky with a gust of wind that sent everything not bolted down flying for yalms! ‘Masked Menace’ is what she is, if you ask me.” - Revenant's Toll Merchant

“A friend of mine saw the Masked Moogle take her shirt off. They said that the Masked Moogle has an eight-pack. That the Masked Moogle was shredded. That she’s an incredible lover whose embrace they will never forget.” - Weirdly Invested Rava

"Just up and invited herself to our party! Didn't even ask! Butted in and kupo'd the whole time. We could have handled that job just fine by ourselves...probably!" - Novice Adventurer

Thanks for taking the time to check out this carrd, I appreciate it! Couple other things to go over here:

  • I'm old af (30+) and prefer all potential RP partners be 21+. No exceptions.

  • I work full-time and prefer to schedule RP in advance. I've also got a strong preference for ongoing Discord threads, but will not turn down in-game RP.

  • Happily in a monogamous relationship. Flirting with me OOC will get you a warning, followed by a block.

  • I'm lore-flexible. As long as everything has a reasonable explanation I'm not going to mind. I'm also FAR from a walking encyclopedia. If I state something that's incorrect, do not be afraid to let me know.

  • If we vibe, expect constant shitposts, memes, and whatever my random and inane thoughts of the day are to pop up in your DMs.

  • Both player and character are LGBT+

  • Mare: This code will not be handed out unless we've RPed a few times before.

Looking for

  • One-shots, short-term, and long-term

  • Pre-established relationships are on the table, as long as we discuss them first.

  • Slice of Life, Adventure, Humor, Mature/Dark

  • As much as I love Plot, I don't expect most of those to actually pan out. I usually prefer slice-of-life and smaller arcs that can be wrapped up in a couple of scenes. These allow for natural growth between the characters and allow us the opportunity to build a larger plot, should we feel inclined.

  • Romance for Nerine isn't necessarily off the table, but would be incredibly slow burn and likely AU only.

  • ERP is on the table. I prefer buildup before jumping right into it, but Nerine's 100% got the personality to do so. If you are approaching me with intent to ERP (or want to down the line), please let me know upfront. Please also keep in mind I don't expect smut from every partner of hers. She can be flirty and suggestive, but that doesn't mean she (or I) intend to escalate the scene.

  • I really like folks that are capable of weaving comedy and drama together in plotlines. Nerine's a goofy OC - but she's also a tragic one. It's a tightrope of an act to walk, but a highly enjoyable one.
